The Geolocation Services feature allows you to create virtual boundaries—called geofences—and apply them to specific device groups in your organization. These fences help you monitor device movement, improve visibility across locations, and support location-based actions or reporting.
Use this page when you want to define an area on the map, set its radius, and assign which devices should be included in that geofence.
Create new fence
The Create new fence page lets you configure a geofence by choosing a location, naming the fence, and defining its radius.
What you can configure
Geofence name – a required name for identifying the fence
Description – optional context for the fence
Radius – adjustable boundary size drawn on the map
Unit selection – choose metric or imperial
Location search – move or search for an area on the map
How to create
Open Fleet → Geolocation Services → Create new fence.
Enter a geofence name and optional description.
Search for a location or drag the map to the desired point.
Use the slider or radius input field to define the fence size.
Confirm the highlighted circle on the map.
Click Save to create the geofence.
Assign to device groups
After creating a fence, Trio prompts you to assign it to device groups. This determines which devices will be monitored under the new geofence.
Available options
Select one or multiple device groups
Filter by Name, Ownership, or Platforms
View the number of devices in each group
Skip assignment and return later if needed
How to assign
Choose the device groups you want included in your geofence.
Click Assign to group(s) to apply the fence.
To target an individual device, visit that device’s details page directly.
Edit or adjust a fence
Once the fence is created, you can update its settings at any time.
