Students Management

Learn how to add and manage the students in Trio Education.

Prerequisites

  • Required permissions: Admin or Staff role with classroom management access, as well as device accessibility on the student's device

  • Supported platforms: Web-based (Chrome, Edge, Safari) for the admin

  • Device type: Desktop or laptop (for the admin); iOS/iPadOS/macOS/Windows/Android/ChromeOS (for the students)

  • Supported OS (for Trio Student - Agent app):

    • Android: 7 and higher

    • iOS: 17 and higher

    • Windows: 10 and higher

    • macOS: Sonoma (14.0) and higher

    • Chromebook: The latest update is recommended

  • Network requirements: Stable internet connection with access to education.trio.so

Before You Start

Student records are foundational in Trio Education for tracking device assignments, attendance, guardian info, and profile enforcement. Students can be enrolled individually with detailed information or in bulk via CSV upload.

Each student can be associated with a class and optionally assigned to a device during registration. Ensure class structures and at least one device entry exist beforehand for a streamlined process.

Step 1: Navigate to the Student Management Panel

  1. Log in to https://education.trio.so

  2. Click Students in the sidebar

  3. Click the + Add student button on the top right

Expected result: A dialog appears prompting for the enrollment method

Step 2A: Enroll Students Individually

  1. Click Enroll Individually

  2. Fill in the following mandatory and optional fields:

    • First name, Last name

    • Gender

    • Choose or upload an avatar

    • Email, Phone number (optional)

    • Date of Birth

    • Home Location (optional) – Pin student location on the map

    • Parent Name, Relationship, contact info (optional)

Step 2B: Enroll Students via CSV

  1. Click Enroll as Group (CSV)

  2. Drag and drop the .CSV file into the import section

    • File size must not exceed 1 MB

    • Format must match the Sample CSV Document and follow the Import Guide.

  3. Confirm upload to start the import

  4. Make sure to assign the student to a class and assign a device to a student (if existing) to the student before going to the flow. completing the student form or uploading a CSV:

  5. Click Continue

Expected result: Bulk upload processes and students are added to the record

Troubleshooting this step:

  • Issue: File rejected → Solution: Check CSV format and size (1 MB max)

  • Issue: Missing mandatory headers → Solution: Download and match the official template

Expected result: Student is linked to a class and device, if specified

Step 3: Confirmation and Record View

  1. After saving, you'll see: "Your student is created successfully."

  2. Click Done or Add New Student

  3. Back in the Student Records table:

    • View/edit the student entry

    • Use the Actions menu to:

      • View/Edit

      • Set Absence

      • Remove

Next Steps

Immediate actions:

  • Assign security profiles to the student’s class

  • Link their assigned device to a classroom and monitor usage
