Welcome to Trio Education's glossary: an alphabetical list of common terms used in the product. If you come across a term or phrase not listed, you can ask the Trio customer support team to have it clarified and added.

Agent: The "Trio Student" application installed on the student device to ensure profile rules configured by the school are applied to the device.

Alerts: Notifications sent to the school panel if the students do something inappropriate on their phones, e.g., searching for an inappropriate keyword.

App Rules: The rules set on profiles to manage and monitor app usage, as well as block or limit certain apps.

Battery Status: This shows the battery percentage on the student's device, so in case they're running low on battery, the school can require them to recharge their phone to maintain protection.

Classes: Created on the Trio Education panel to assign students and profiles to them and categorize them. Rules on profiles also apply to devices in each class.

Dashboard: Provides an overview of all the items and settings to the admin. Users can access features and their settings through the dashboard.

Device Info: Includes details on the device name, device ownership (BYOD or SOD), device model, last location, last activity, and the student to whom the device is assigned.

Device is Protected: When the device is paired with the panel, granted all permissions, and has rules set on the profile, it is considered "Device is protected."

Device is Unprotected: If the student accesses the settings using a PIN code provided by the school and toggles the protection off, the rules won't work on the device anymore, and it is considered "Device is unprotected."

Device Protected (No Restrictions): This notification appears on the student's (BYOD) device when the student app is installed and paired with the school panel, but the device is outside the school fence, so there will be no rules.

Devices: Any gadget with an operating system, owned by the school or the student, such as Windows devices (laptops), Android devices (phones or tablets), Apple devices (iPhones, iPads, MacBooks), Chromebooks, etc.

Profiles: The rules are set through the profiles. After creating an account on Trio Education and adding classes, students, and devices, the admins need to go to profiles and set specific rules to monitor the devices and students' web and app activity.

Safe Search: A rule set on profiles that enables users to monitor, block, or allow certain keyword searches on the student's device to prevent access to inappropriate content.

School Panel: The school panel is where the administration can access the Trio Education account, features, and settings. Schools can log into their account on the school panel through the following address: https://education.trio.so/auth/signin.

Smart Screen: A feature on Trio Education that allows the admin to set healthy limits on the amount of time the students use their phones.

Staff: The people who work at the school and can be added to the school panel as either admin or viewer to control the monitoring process.

Student App: The student app or agent app that needs to be installed on the student's device to help Trio Education monitor and manage device usage.

Supervise: A state on the Trio Connect app where the school administration can monitor iOS phones and iPad devices using a MacBook.

Trio Connect: runs on a macOS device and is used to enable or disable supervision of USB connected iOS and iPadOS devices through an Apple device enrolment profile.

Trio Student: The student app or agent app installed on the student's device to help Trio Education monitor and manage the student's device usage.

Unsupervise: After supervising the student device, to remove supervision and let the student use it freely, the admin needs to "Unsupervise" the device.

Web Activity: All web searches done on the student's device.

Web Filter: A feature in Profile Management that helps the administration block certain URLs by categories or as exceptions.
