Mobile device management solutions can be overwhelming to navigate due to the abundance of features. However, Trio is designed to be both feature-dense and user-friendly. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for setting up your Trio account. Don’t worry. You’ll get the hang of Trio in no time!
Trio’s main goal is to help you manage the following assets:
Your Software: Assign apps & licenses to different users and employees.
Your Devices: Remotely monitor, manage, secure, and control all devices.
Your Employees: Automate user lifecycle management and ensure smooth transitions.
Your Departments: Create and control various departments for easier management.
However, before you start adding these assets, you should first inform Trio a bit more about your organization and connect to the services you already use. This includes basic information about your office(s), adding Apple MDM services, and integrating other platforms you use with Trio. Let’s start with adding your company’s information.
Adding company & office info
First things first, you must set up your company’s information on Trio. To do so, follow these steps:
From the Dashboard, select Settings on the bottom of the left-side ribbon.
2. Next, go to the Organization tab.
3. Now you can upload your company's logo.
4. Input your company’s Terms & Conditions, by pasting the link.
5. And adding office information by clicking on Add Office.
MDM setup: Activating APNs certificates
The process of setting up MDM involves the activation of various tokens and certificates, including the APNs certificate, DEP token, and VPP token. However, to get started with Trio, the activation of the APNs certificate is all you need. This step is vital for the management of Apple devices. Without the activation of the Apple Push Certificate, Trio’s ability to manage your Apple devices would be compromised.
To start activating your certificate follow these steps:
From the Dashboard, navigate to Settings located at the bottom-left of the panel.
Proceed to the MDM setup and click on the Configure button next to the APNs certificate.
Download your CSR file from Trio
Upload it to the Apple Certificate service for Apple’s signature.
After the upload is done, click on Configure to Trio to activate the certificate.
Remember, this step is essential if you plan on activating the VPP and DEP tokens in the future.
Third-party integrations
Once you’ve successfully set up your Trio account and activated the necessary certificates and tokens, the next crucial step is to integrate Trio with other third-party platforms that your organization uses. By integrating these third-party platforms with Trio, you can use these services directly through Trio’s interface.
From the Dashboard, go to Integrations located at the bottom-left of the panel.
Here, you can select your preferred platforms and establish a connection by clicking on Connect, here we used Okta as an example.
Click on Connect to select the preferred service.
In this example we used the OIDC protocol.
Log in to your integration account to use the redirect URL Trio offers and click on Next.
Fill in the needed information and click on Connect.
This finalizes the process, now you’ve successfully connected the integration.
