On Trio Business, users can enroll a variety of devices to monitor and manage, as well as assign different profiles and policies to them.

To enroll the devices, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the Trio Business panel. From the menu on the left, click on the devices tab. Click “Add a New Device”, and select “iPhone & iPad” from the categories.

  2. You need to download a profile on your iPhone/ iPad device. To download the profile, please select the intended group, and get the profile to install.

  3. The MDM server will install the Trio agent app from the App Store and install it on the device.

  4. After the installation is complete, you can start managing the enrolled device.

Supervision of the iPhone and iPad using the APN certificate

Through the APN certificate, you can supervise the Apple devices such as the iPhone and the iPad. To configure it, please follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the Trio Business panel. From the menu on the left, click on the devices tab. Click “Add a New Device”, and select “iPhone & iPad” from the categories.

  2. Select “Supervision”. You need to configure the APN certificate here. Click “Configure”.

  3. Download the CSR. Apple needs to sign this to make a connection between their portal and your company through Trio.

  4. You can get push notifications using an Apple ID.

  5. Upload the certificate you downloaded from Trio into the Apple portal, and after getting the digital signature, download the new certificate.

  6. Upload the Push Certificate to complete the setup.

Why do we need to set this?
Configuring an APN (Apple Push Notification) certificate is essential for supervising iPhones and iPads in Trio as it establishes a secure communication channel between Apple devices and the MDM server. The APN certificate enables Trio to send commands, policies, and updates to managed devices seamlessly. Without it, the MDM server cannot interact with Apple devices, making it impossible to enforce configurations, manage apps, or secure the devices effectively. This setup ensures devices remain compliant, secure, and centrally managed while maintaining compatibility with Apple’s ecosystem requirements.
