There is a a video guide to this article as well. The flow is similar to credential enrollment of COD.

Before You Start

Credentials or Pairing Code Enrollment is designed for personally owned Mac devices (BYOD) that need access to organizational apps and configurations while maintaining user privacy.

This method enforces basic compliance, ensures access to work resources, and allows users to remove the profile anytime. The enrollment uses either:

  • Credentials-based login (username and password provided by IT)

  • Pairing code (a one-time code generated in Trio’s panel)

No location tracking or full device control is applied.

Step 1: Install the Trio Agent

  1. Download the Trio.pkg installer provided by your admin.

  2. Double-click the file and select Install.

  3. Click Open when prompted by macOS.

Step 2: Launch Trio

  2. The Welcome to Trio screen will appear.

  3. Click Continue Enrolling Device to begin setup.

Step 3: Select Device Ownership

  1. When prompted with ownership options, select User Owned Device (BYOD).

  2. This ensures limited management access, focusing only on organizational apps and settings.

Step 4: Authenticate

  1. Enter your organization name from the dropdown menu.

  2. Choose one of the following authentication methods based on your admin’s instruction:

    • Credentials: Enter your email and password.

    • Pairing Code: Enter the six-digit pairing code provided by your IT admin.

  3. Click Confirm & Next to continue.

Step 5: Install the MDM Profile

  1. After successful authentication, open System Settings.

  2. Navigate to General → Device Management.

  3. Select the downloaded Trio MDM Profile.

  4. Click Install and approve the installation prompt.
