The Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP)—now called the Apps and Books service in Apple Business Manager (ABM) or Apple School Manager (ASM)—lets you buy or freely assign App Store titles and e-books, then push them silently to managed devices.
Before you start:
APN must be connected. Follow the steps in Connect Apple Push Notification Service (APN).
DEP must be connected. Complete Connect Automated Device Enrollment (DEP).

Open the VPP Wizard
Go to Fleet → MDM Setup → Apple.
Click Connect VPP Account in the App & Book Management (VPP) tile.
The wizard opens on Step 1 • Sign in to Apple.
Step-by-Step Setup
1 Sign in to Apple Business/School Manager
Click Go to Apple Business Manager (or School Manager) to launch the portal in a new tab and sign in with your Apple ID.
2 Download the location token
In ABM/ASM, choose Account Name → Preferences → Payments and Billing.
Scroll to Content Tokens and locate the correct location.
Click Download to save the file that ends with .vpptoken.
3 Upload the VPP token to Trio
Return to the wizard and advance to Step 3 • Upload VPP Token.
Drag-and-drop the
.vpptokenfile (or click to browse).Click Connect. Trio validates the token and flips VPP status to Connected, showing:
Apple ID used
Token expiration date
Total licenses available
Trio will remind you 30, 15, and 7 days before the token expires.
What Happens Next?
You can now assign paid or free apps and books from Software Management → Apple App Store.
Licenses are pulled automatically from your Apple location and reclaimed when an app is removed.
Users never see an App Store prompt—apps install silently.
Troubleshooting
