Allowed Apps

Learn more about the Android allowed apps in Software Policy.

The Software Policy feature in the Fleet section of the Trio platform enables IT administrators to enforce app-level controls across managed devices. The Allowed apps policy is a specific instance where only selected apps are permitted to run on Android devices, helping organizations manage compliance, improve productivity, and prevent the use of unauthorized applications.

This guide provides a complete breakdown of the Allowed apps policy interface, covering its key tabs, Overview, Details, Software, AutoPilots, and Activity log, to help you configure and manage the policy effectively.

Overview Tab

The Overview tab offers a consolidated summary of the selected software policy. It includes:

  • Type: Shows if the policy is an Allowlist (only selected apps are permitted).

  • Software: Highlights key apps included in the policy (e.g., Figma).

  • AutoPilot: Displays linked AutoPilot groups with status indicators.

  • Recent logs: Lists the latest activity related to policy assignment or changes, with timestamps, event types, and policy names.

Use this tab to get a quick snapshot of what the policy covers and its recent actions.

Details Tab

The Details tab allows editing of metadata such as:

  • Policy Name: The label that identifies the policy (e.g., Android allowed apps).

  • Description (optional): Space to include notes or the purpose of the policy.

  • Info Text: Brief helper message under the description field for user's guidance.

Administrators can rename or update descriptions as policies evolve.

Software Tab

The Software tab lets you view and manage the list of allowed applications:

  • Includes columns for Name, Version, Category, Publisher, and Source (e.g., Play Store or Web apps).

  • You can filter, search, and sort apps by various parameters.

  • Selected apps appear with checkboxes, and “Show selected only” helps isolate the active list.

Use this tab to curate the exact list of approved Android apps for the policy.

AutoPilots Tab

In the AutoPilots tab, assign the policy to different deployment groups:

  • Each row shows the AutoPilot name, type (Device or Hybrid), creator, status, and last updated timestamp.

  • Select or deselect AutoPilot groups to update assignments.

  • Supports filtering and sorting based on name, type, status, or creator.

This ensures the policy is applied precisely across the intended user or device groups.

Activity Log Tab

The Activity Log provides a chronological trail of actions taken:

  • Columns include Timestamp, Event Type, Policy Name, Performed By, and Details/Message.

  • Events include policy assignment, unassignment, updates, and enforcement.

This tab supports auditability and operational transparency, helping track who made what changes and when.
