Port Restriction

Learn how to set up a Port Restriction profile on Trio Business.

Updated over a week ago

A Port Restriction profile in Trio enables IT administrators to control hardware port usage on macOS and Windows devices, enhancing security by preventing unauthorized access and data transfers. On macOS, the profile allows restrictions on USB, Thunderbolt, and Ethernet ports, blocking unauthorized external storage devices and protecting against data leakage or malware introduction. Administrators can tailor restrictions to specific user roles or device groups, ensuring compliance with organizational security policies while maintaining workflow efficiency. On Windows, the profile provides similar functionality, managing USB, HDMI, and Ethernet ports to block unauthorized device connections and restrict data transfers. It integrates with Windows security features, such as Group Policy, to enforce consistent restrictions across all managed devices. The profile also allows for exceptions, enabling trusted devices or specific use cases to bypass restrictions when necessary. This centralized and granular control over port access ensures devices remain secure, compliant with regulatory requirements, and protected from physical threats, making it a vital tool for organizations handling sensitive data or operating in high-security environments.
