Device unenrollment - macOS

Learn how to unenroll a mac device from Trio.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

If you no longer want Trio to manage a Mac device, you can unenroll it directly from the Devices section. Unenrolling will remove the device from management, revoke policies, and stop all future monitoring and control. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Prerequisites

  • You must be an admin or have appropriate permissions to manage devices.

  • The Mac must already be enrolled in Trio.

  • You’ll need to know the device name for confirmation (e.g., "Michael").

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Navigate to the Devices Section

From your Trio dashboard:

  1. Go to Devices on the left-hand sidebar.

  2. Ensure you're on the Device List tab.

  3. Locate the Mac you want to unenroll. Use the search bar or filter by Mac.

Step 2: Select the Target Mac Device

Click the name of the device (e.g., Michael) to open the Device Information page.

Step 3: Open Device Actions

  1. Click the Actions dropdown (top right).

  2. Select Unenroll from the list of available actions.

Step 4: Confirm the Unenrollment

A confirmation dialog will appear. To proceed:

  • Enter the device name (e.g., Michael) into the text box.

  • Click the red Unenroll button.

Step 5: Verify Success

Once confirmed, Trio will begin the unenrollment process. A success message will appear, and the device will be removed from the list within a few minutes.

Note: The unenrollment process may take up to 5 minutes to fully take effect.

What Happens After Unenrollment?

  • The Mac will no longer receive policies, configurations, or software updates from Trio.

  • Remote actions (lock, wipe, reboot) will no longer be available.

  • The device's entry is removed from the active Devices list.
