Learn more about setting up a Passcode security profile.

Updated over a week ago

A Passcode Security profile enforces robust passcode policies on managed devices to safeguard data and ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. It allows IT administrators to define specific requirements, such as minimum passcode length, complexity, and character types, while also enabling advanced rules like prohibiting sequential or repeated characters. The profile can enforce passcode expiration policies, requiring users to update their passcodes periodically, and set lockout policies that limit the number of failed attempts before locking or wiping the device to prevent unauthorized access. Additional features include enforcing auto-lock timers, ensuring devices automatically lock after a defined idle period, and integrating biometric authentication for added security. By continuously monitoring devices for compliance, the Passcode Security profile ensures that all devices meet the organization’s security standards. This profile plays a crucial role in protecting sensitive corporate data, preventing unauthorized access, and providing centralized control over passcode policies across all managed devices. It is particularly vital for organizations handling confidential or sensitive information.

Trio offers the Passcode profile for macOS, iOS, Android, and iPad.

To set up a passcode profile, please follow the instructions here.

macOS - iPad

  1. Open Trio Business. From the menu, go to Profiles, and from Security, look for the Passcode profile. It's also in the suggested items.

  2. Click on the profile. You need to choose a name for the profile, and then select the operating system you want to run the profile on. Here we go with the macOS device.

  3. The next step is to set up the criteria required for the profile. There are different items the IT admin needs to provide for the functionality of the profile.

  4. After setting the numeric amount for each field, click "Save". You will have to confirm the profile to be assigned to devices or Groups in your organization.

  5. Select the device or Group you want to assign the Passcode profile to. The profile will be added to the list and you can edit or review it anytime you want.

Android

The Passcode profile could also be set up for Android devices. There are some differences in configuring the profile.

After you're done setting the numeric values, you assign them to the preferred Group or Device.

iOS

The setup is similar to the previous items, and the difference is in the numeric values.

After setting up the profile, assign it to the preferred group or device.
